वाल्मीकिगिरिसम्भूता रामाम्भोनिधिसङ्गता ।
श्रीमद्रामायणी गङ्गा पुनाति भुवनत्रयम् ॥
The Ramayanam Ganges*, born in the Valmiki Mountain** and proceeding towards the Rama Ocean*** cleanses the three worlds****.
* Ramayanam and Ganges have same quality of removing the sins of those who immerse themselves in them.
** Both the Himalayas and Valmiki are magnificent ones, one gives rise to the Ganges, another gave rise to the Ramayanam
*** Rama is an ocean owing to his vastness and depth of his grace and love towards all living beings.
**** The Ganga is called as त्रिपथगा i.e. one who flows through three paths (the heavens, earth and the nether worlds).
In starting this site, we seek to:
1. Help the lovers of Sanskrit to learn it through the oldest epic of the world, Ramayanam.
2. Cleanse ourselves: As pronunciation of each syllable of rAmAyaNam cleanses one's great sins (चरितं रघुनाथस्य शतकोटि प्रविस्तरम् एकैकमक्षरं पुंसां महापातक नाशनम् ).
3. Give ourselves a learning tool which we can revisit to strengthen our understanding.
The inspiration for this site is the beautiful site of Shri Shripad Abhyankar which helps people learn Sanskrit through Gita. You may access the site here: http://study1geetaa2sanskrit.wordpress.com/
We have been teaching rAmAyaNam to a few people since the past 1 year and by bhagavatkR^ipaa there has been an increase in the number of people attending the classes. Whatever is being taught to them, if carried here will be of some help to someone somewhere.
We welcome your suggestions / feedback. Please send them by email on shrivathsa [DOT] brahma [AT] gmail [DOT] com.
In case you are interested in attending the classes, you are welcome, in this case, please write to us on the above mail ID with an introduction of yourself.. The classes are free and are held every Saturday and Sunday. The classes are held in an informal and friendly environment.
